Prominent industrialist Sunjay Kapur, known for his role in the Indian automotive sector and his past marriage to Karisma Kapoor, died in London on Thursday at 53. Though initially believed to have suffered a heart attack during a polo game, some reports now attribute the incident to a rare bee sting accident.
Sunjay Kapur Cause of Death
Suhel Seth, speaking to ANI, mentioned that Sunjay Kapur may have suffered a heart attack after inadvertently swallowing a bee during a polo match in England.
Hindustan Times has not independently confirmed this. Sona Comstar, his company, stated the cause as a heart attack without elaborating further.
While playing polo in England, Sunjay Kapur, the Chairman of Sona Comstar, suffered a fatal heart attack, as reported by PTI. The company released a statement mourning his death:
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Sunjay J Kapur, Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Sona Comstar, following a sudden heart attack in England, UK, on 12th June 2025, at the age of 53.”
Sunjay Kapur’s Life
In his lifetime, Sunjay Kapur entered into three marriages. He first married Nandita Mahtani in 1996, a union that ended in 2000. His second marriage was to Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor in 2003.
They had two children, Samaira and Kiaan, before parting ways in 2016 following a mutual divorce process that began in 2014. In 2017, he married Priya Sachdev, and the couple welcomed a son named Azarias.
