As per the latest developments in the biz world, Srijit Mukherji has snatched the direction from Rahul Dholakia in the upcoming Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Shabaash Mithu’.
The film is scheduled to release in 2022 and will simply narrate the life of Mithali Raj, who’s the captain of Indian Women’s ODI cricket team.
In order to make it clear on his front, Ajit Andhare, who’s the COO of Viacom 18 studio confirmed the change in direction. He said that the team had no option but to reschedule the film’s shoot due to COVID-19 crisis.
As a result, Rahul has decided to move on from Shabaash Mithu. He also called this unfortunate and thanked him for his undisrupted role in making the film.
Take a look what he actually stated, “Covid disruptions have required rescheduling of the shoot and as a result, Rahul is moving on from Shabaash Mithu. It’s unfortunate that after sharing and nurturing this dream for a long time Rahul has to part ways. His contribution will remain, I thank him for that and wish him the very best. Srijit Mukherjee will now take over the director’s mantle. Srijit has worked with us closely on Ray and our plans of making a cricket film together will now come to fruition. I am sure he will bring all his passion and craft to this dream film.”

Talking about Srijit Mukherji, he’s regarded as one of the eminent directors who have won several national awards. He’s credited to have directed a plethora of masterpieces till date including Gumnami, Ek Je Chhilo Raja, Chotushkone and Jaatishwar.
He’s also to direct some upcoming web series like Bahrupiya and Forget Me Not. And this is what he disclosed about his next directional venture Shabaash Mithu, “Being a cricket buff and researcher, Mithali’s tale has always been an inspiration to me. I was excited since I had first heard of this film being made and now that I am a part of it I look forward to kickstarting the journey to bring this exhilarating story to the silver screen soon.”
The entire team also thanked Rahul Dholakia and thanked him for staying with them until now. They also stated that he will always remain very fond of the script along with the team.

As we earlier mentioned, Shabaash Mithu is going to screen the life events of the greatest woman cricketer Mithali Raj and Taapsee Pannu will play the titular role in the film.
