At the WAVES 2025 Summit, Shah Rukh Khan expressed his views on the persistent “insider-outsider” controversy within the film industry.
During his appearance at the WAVES 2025 Summit in Mumbai on Thursday, Shah Rukh Khan impressed with both his humour and wisdom.
He broke his silence on the ‘insider vs outsider’ debate in Bollywood, expressing that it doesn’t matter where a person originates from.
Shah Rukh Khan Talks About the Insider vs Outsider Divide
At the session titled “The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler,” Shah Rukh Khan joined Deepika Padukone, with Karan Johar moderating.
Known as one of Bollywood’s most prominent figures despite his lack of a film background, SRK spoke about the real factors that contribute to success in any career.
This is what SRK explained, “I want to make one thing clear: words like hunger, ambition, and hard work are often idealized. People say, ‘I was incredibly hungry, I worked tirelessly,’ but these words are often used too loftily.”
The Bollywood star further voiced his concerns about the insider-outsider narrative, stating that it’s not relevant. “I don’t think the insider-outsider distinction is important.
It doesn’t matter where you come from. What really counts is how you prove yourself in the world you wish to be a part of whether it’s business, politics, or acting,” he remarked.
Shah Rukh Khan reflected on how the film industry welcomed him, saying it made him feel that “this is my world and my industry.”
WAVES 2025 Summit
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, WAVES 2025 brought together a host of celebrities such as Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Hema Malini, Anil Kapoor, Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, and Rajinikanth. Held in Mumbai, the event will continue over the weekend.
