It all happened when Deepika Padukone took to social media to announce the re-release of Piku, sharing a video where Amitabh Bachchan reflects on the film’s legacy and reveals its return to theatres. In her caption, she spoke from the heart, saying, “PIKU holds a special place in my life.

It’s coming back to cinemas on May 9, 2025, to celebrate 10 years! Irrfan, we miss you and often find ourselves thinking of you…”

Released in 2015, the film was lauded for its sincere storytelling and moving performances. At its core, it depicted the touching dynamic between Piku which tends to be an independent, headstrong architect, and her elderly, hypochondriac father Bhashkor, a role that Amitabh Bachchan portrayed with great nuance.

In one of his most subtle performances, Irrfan Khan infused the character of Rana with a calm resilience, portraying a man who unexpectedly becomes a stabilizing force during a road journey that reshapes their understanding of family.
