Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat’s latest film, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, recently premiered on Netflix. Directed by Siddharth Anand, this action-packed heist drama also stars Nikita Dutta and Kunal Kapoor in important roles.

After the release, Saif caught up with IMDb and shared his experience of working on the film, along with some behind-the-scenes stories from the set.

Saif Ali Khan Admitted, “As always, I Ended Up Hating Myself

During a conversation with IMDb alongside Siddharth Anand and Jaideep Ahlawat , Saif Ali Khan spoke about how tough his first day of shooting was. He recalled, “I remember my first day, it was really late.

We began around 1 AM and finished by 5 AM as the sun was coming up. It was also the first time I met Jaideep.

Like always, I ended up being hard on myself because it was day one. Honestly, there are moments when I’m not sure what I’m doing. It usually takes me a little time to find my rhythm. I was a bit nervous, a bit tired, and felt a little lost.”

Saif Ali Khan also shared a funny moment from the shoot involving a Rottweiler. He recalled, “I was filming with Jaideep sir’s dog, and it was a massive Rottweiler. I didn’t realize they were that big!

The owner told me I could do anything with the dog, so I started feeding it biscuits and playing around. At one point, I gave it a little tug, and it growled at me fiercely. That’s when the owner warned me, ‘You can do whatever you like, but just don’t pull it!’

Jewel Thief

Jewel Thief, released on Netflix on April 25, hasn’t managed to impress viewers. A review noted, “Saif’s role feels underwhelming, as if he did the film just for the paycheck rather than embodying the ‘coolest thief.’

Jaideep puts in a lot of effort to make his character menacing, and while he succeeds to some extent, the film as a whole is a forgettable heist drama. The makers tease a potential sequel with ‘The Heist continues,’ but it feels like they could use a lesson in confidence from their own work.”
