Prerna Arora Addresses Jaya Bachchan’s comments On Toilet: Ek Prem Katha: “I’m A Huge Admirer, But This Is Painful”

Prerna Arora, co-producer of the film, shared her disappointment over the statement. “First of all, I must say I am a huge admirer of Jayaji. She is an icon to me. Watching films like Guddi, Uphaar, Abhimaan, and Mili always fills me with happiness.

That’s why it’s deeply upsetting to hear her refer to Toilet: Ek Prem Katha as a flop. I would encourage her to review the box office records, our film was highly successful and stood among the top five blockbusters of 2017.”

Prerna simply revealed that the title was chosen after a lot of consideration. “At first, we were unsure about using the word ‘toilet’ in the title, especially alongside ‘A Love Story.’ It felt like a bold and risky decision. But in the end, we decided to go with this unconventional choice.

As a producer, I believe in taking creative risks—cinema should challenge the norm. Even Jaya Ma’am has taken bold choices in her career, like in Doosri Sita, where she played a woman who kills her abusive husband.”
