Esha Deol Declares Separation from Husband Bharat Takhtani

For almost a year, there have been ongoing rumors surrounding actress Esha Deol’s separation from her husband Bharat Takhtani. Putting an end to all speculations, the actress has confirmed that she and Bharat have mutually decided to separate.

The couple, who got married in 2012, shares two daughters, Radhya (6) and Miraya (4). Speculations about their separation first arose when Bharat was noticeably absent from his mother-in-law, actress Hema Malini’s birthday celebration in 2023. His absence continued at Esha’s birthday bash, adding fuel to the rumors.

Last month, further rumors circulated when Esha attended Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare’s wedding reception with her mother Hema Malini but without her husband. A Reddit user claimed that Bharat Takhtani is currently residing with his girlfriend in Bangalore, alleging infidelity.

In a joint statement, the couple announced their separation today, emphasizing their commitment to co-parenting their children.

“We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Our children’s best interests and welfare remain our top priority during this transition. We kindly request that our privacy be respected,” their statement issued to Delhi Times read.

Esha and Bharat exchanged vows in June 2012. Reflecting on their initial encounter, Esha Deol shared in an interview with India Today, “We met at the inter-school competition called Cascade, which my school hosted. I wrote my phone number on a piece of tissue and gave it to him. Back then I had braces, so I always say he truly loved me with braces on. He found me cute.”

She continued, “We had only one phone in my mother’s room with no extension, making communication quite challenging. It was a time of infatuation and innocence, which was beautiful.

Though we stayed in touch during college, as my work life began at 18, our connection faded. However, I am grateful that we reconnected, and he became my life partner.”

Their first child arrived five years after their wedding, followed by their second baby in 2019.
