Britney Spears, the iconic pop star who has mesmerized fans for years with her music, is now gearing up to captivate audiences with a biopic based on her memoir, The Woman in Me.
Jon M. Chu, known for his work on Wicked, will take the director’s chair for the project and has assured that Britney Spears will play a pivotal role in shaping her story for the screen.
At the Golden Globes, Jon M. Chu shared that Britney Spears will have a significant role in shaping the biopic. “I’ve been a fan since I was young… she was one of 12 acts at the Shrine Auditorium,” he recalled. Although excited about telling Spears’ story, Chu kept the finer details of the project under wraps.
While the director previously mentioned that Britney Spears would portray herself in the biopic, it seems the pop star has her own vision for the casting. According to Life and Style magazine, an insider revealed that Britney’s top choices for actresses to play her are Natalie Portman and Selena Gomez.
According to an insider, “Britney has a deep admiration for Natalie Portman and considers her an exceptional actress. She believes with the right makeup, Natalie could easily transform into her. Similarly, Britney is fond of Selena Gomez both as a person and an artist. She sees Selena as incredibly talented and thinks her experience as a child star would help her portray Britney well.”
It all happened after social media users responded with various reactions. One fan posted, stating they couldn’t picture either actress portraying Britney.
A fan shared, “I still think they should find an unknown actress who looks more like Britney than any Hollywood star.” Another user added, “I’m not convinced, to be honest.
It seems like someone just came up with this, choosing two actresses Britney’s publicly admired. Did they also say she wants Brad Pitt as Justin? Lmao.”
