Bappi Lahiri, Composer-Singer, Dies In Mumbai Hospital

Bappi Lahiri, a noted Indian musician who started the trend of disco music took his last breath at a city hospital in Mumbai. He was 69. Some of his evergreen films where he composed music were Disco Dancer and Sharabi.

 

Popular music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri who originally popularized disco music during 80’s and 90’s took his last breath at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital today. He aged 69 years.

Dr Deepak Namjoshi who’s the director of the hospital told PTI, “Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight,” he said.

Bollywood and the people of India can’t forget the immense contribution of Bappi Da. He rose to fame late 1970s-80s from films like ‘Sharaabi’, ‘Disco Dancer’ and ‘Chalte Chalte’.

His last Bollywood song which was titled ‘Bhankas’ was for the film ‘Baaghi 3’ released in 2020.

After his demise, several Bollywood and other eminent personalities shared their feeling and emotions on leading social media platforms.

One of them was Anupam Kher who expressed his shock after he heard this news.

 

Sidharth Malhotra also payed his tribute to Bappi Lahiri.

 

Sachin Tendulkar also joined others and mourned the loss of Bappi Lahiri
