Ann Dowd, who’s a famous Emmy Award winning star has joined the star cast of political thriller ‘The Independent’.
Famous Emmy award winner Ann Dowd has joined the star cast of political thriller titled The Independent. Dowd is best known for her role in the superhit Hulu series titled ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’. As per an update, Dowd is expected to feature opposite John Cena, Brian Cox and Jodie Turner-Smith.

The film starring Ann Dowd basically takes you through the final times of the presidential election to happen in the history of America. As the title suggests, ‘The Independent’ follows a young and idealistic journalist named Turner-Smith.
Smith once decides to collaborate with her colleague Cox to uncover a huge conspiracy which looks to take elections and the country into their dirty hands.
And therefore, both Dowd and Cena have to play opposing Presidential candidates. Also, Rice is expected to direct the film which has been penned by Evan Parter.
The political thriller will be produced by Ryan Cunningham in the association of Sam Bisbee under Park Pictures banner, Caddy Vanasirikul of The Exchange and Thea Dunlap.
At present, the shooting of the film is going on in New York (NY) and is slated for a theatrical release in 2022.
