Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan Praise BCCI Decision for Women Cricketers

Many Bollywood celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan Anushka Sharma, Taapsee Pannu and Preity Zinta have praised BCCI’s decision to offer equal pay to women cricketers.

This was pending for long but now settled in the interest of the game. Many celebrities have pointed out on social media that BCCI has put the right foot forward by giving such aa decision.

It all happened when The Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary, Jay Shah too to his Twitter handle to announce the latest update.

This is what he wrote, “I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Cricket.”

Shah Rukh Khan was the first one to praise the above decision by making a tweet. This is what he wrote, “What a good front foot shot. Sports being such an equaliser (in more ways than one) hoping it will pave the way for others to follow.”

In the same way, Taapsee Pannu also thanked BCCI and tweeted, “A huge step towards equal pay for equal work. Thank you BCCI for leading with example (clapping emoji).” she wrote.

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta said, “Wow! Woke up to wonderful news. What a fantastic step in the right direction by @BCCI. Thank you @JayShah @ShuklaRajiv @irogerbinny @ThakurArunS & everyone else who made this happen.”

Akshay Kumar also came forward to put forth his views. This is what he stated, “दिल ख़ुश हो गया यह पढ़ कर. छा गए @BCCI @JayShah !  It’s an absolutely brilliant decision, will go a long way in making our women players take up professional cricket.” he posted.

Abhishek Bachchan was quick to respond to the tweet of Jay Shah. This is what he posted, “Brilliant. Well done.”

A tweet from the cricketer Mithali Raj came that said, “This is a historic decision for women’s cricket in India! The pay equity policy along with the WIPL next year, we are ushering into a new era for women’s cricket in India. Thank you @JayShah Sir & the @BCCI for making this happen. Really happy today.” she said.
