IIFA 2025 Jaipur: “Many Told Me Raja Should Be Rani, & Beta Should Be Beti”-Madhuri Dixit

Guneet Monga highlighted an important point, saying, “I urge IIFA to celebrate women who back female-led films, those who confidently say, ‘I’ll be part of this because a woman is leading it.’ Producers advocating for strong female characters, writers, and directors should also be recognized.

Guneet Monga pointed out, “The responsibility shouldn’t just be on women; the entire industry needs to take accountability.”

Madhuri Dixit shared her thoughts, saying, “Women are repeatedly expected to prove they can attract audiences. Although disparities persist, change comes from continuously challenging limits. It’s a gradual process, but there’s still a long journey ahead.”

Guneet Monga went on to say, “At the same time, films like Barbie and Stree 2 have made a huge impact at the box office. I mean, the movie is simply called Stree 2! This clearly shows that breaking box office records is entirely possible.”

Madhuri Dixit reflected, “This has happened before. When I was in Raja (1995), many people said, ‘It should have been named Rani!’ The same was said about Beta (1992), that it should have been Beti. But these are just words. The real question is, when will true change happen? It did occur at certain moments in my career, but will it become consistent?
