Following a 25% decline from its strong weekend earnings on Monday, Marco, starring Unni Mukundan, continued to see a drop on December 24, earning only Rs 3.65 crore, its lowest daily revenue yet. However, the film’s producers are not overly concerned, as this decrease was expected given the weekday release.
After Day 5’s early estimates, Marco has accumulated Rs 21.70 crore at the Indian box office, while its total global revenue is around Rs 40 crore.
Marco Day 5 worldwide Earnings Show Intriguing Trend
A closer look at the box office numbers reveals an interesting pattern, one that Malayalam cinema had been striving for before the pandemic. Both the domestic and overseas earnings are showing steady growth.
The box office numbers from both the domestic and international markets are closely aligned, which is typical for a well-performing film like Marco, especially with its release in regions such as Europe, the Middle East, and Australia.
This is noteworthy considering the film’s A certification due to its violent content.
Despite a slowdown in its box office numbers over the past few days, Marco is expected to gain momentum during the holiday period.
The film, starring Unni Mukundan and directed by Haneef Adeni, is on track to cross the Rs 50 crore mark soon. The Telugu version of the movie will release on January 1, 2025.
Marco Faces Tough Competition with the Upcoming Release of Barroz
On Day 6, Marco faces its biggest challenge yet, with Mohanlal’s Barroz set to release on December 25. The family-friendly 3D fantasy film is expected to draw significant attention, particularly if it garners positive reviews.
Barroz has accumulated close to Rs 1 crore in the form of advance bookings in the domestic market. With films like Extra Decent and Mufasa not performing as expected, Barroz could gain further momentum.
