Alicia Silverstone is set to star in Yorgos Lanthimos’s upcoming film Bugonia, joining the cast that includes Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons. Written by Will Tracy, this film is a remake of the South Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet. Scheduled for release in the US on November 7, 2025, it delves into the eccentric adventures of two conspiracy theorists.
Alicia Silverstone has been cast in Yorgos Lanthimos’s upcoming film, Bugonia.
Renowned for her role in the 1995 hit Clueless, Silverstone will share the screen with Emma Stone, a frequent collaborator of the director, and Jesse Plemons, as reported by Variety.
Silverstone previously appeared in a minor role in Lanthimos’s 2017 film The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
Bugonia happens to be the reimagining of the South Korean sci-fi comedy Save the Green Planet.
The script has been written by Will Tracy, known for his work on the acclaimed series Succession and the film The Menu, starring Ralph Fiennes.
The plot follows two young men obsessed with conspiracy theories who abduct a high-profile CEO, believing she is an alien with plans to annihilate Earth.

Bugonia is a project developed by CJ ENM, the production company behind Parasite, in collaboration with Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen from Square Peg.
The film is being produced by Knudsen, Aster, and Yorgos Lanthimos, alongside Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe from Element Pictures, Emma Stone representing Fruit Tree, and Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko from CJ ENM.
It’s all set to premiere in U.S. theaters on November 7, 2025, through Focus Features, while Universal Pictures will handle the film’s international distribution. In South Korea, CJ ENM will be responsible for the release.
