The issue arose when Elmasri issued a statement alleging that Janet Jackson planned to apologize for her remarks about Kamala Harris’ racial background.

Janet Jackson’s team has stated that an apology circulating online about her remarks on Vice President Kamala Harris’s race was not authorized.

They clarified that Mo Elmasri, who issued the statement, is not affiliated with Jackson and had no right to speak on her behalf.

The situation began when Mo Elmasri released a statement suggesting that Janet Jackson planned to issue an apology for her remarks about Kamala Harris’ racial background.

Jackson’s team quickly rejected the statement, clarifying that she “respects Harris’ mixed heritage of Black and Indian.” They also pointed out that Elmasri had no official connection to her.

It was later revealed that Janet has long been managed by her brother, Randy Jackson. Elmasri, in an email, confirmed he was no longer working for Janet, stating that both she and Randy had dismissed him.

He voiced his frustration over his efforts to manage her public image being ignored and reiterated his support for Harris, distancing himself from the claims.

A closer look at Mo Elmasri’s background shows that he is an Egyptian film producer and the founder of a consulting firm called 24 East Agency.

He has asserted that he has served as a creative consultant for various high-profile celebrities, such as Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, and Beyoncé.

Although he is listed as a producer on an upcoming Janet Jackson film, the validity of his relationship with her has been called into question, especially in light of the recent controversy regarding his unauthorized remarks

The controversy erupted during Janet Jackson’s recent interview with The Guardian, where she discussed concerns regarding the U.S. election and Vice President Kamala Harris’s racial identity.

Jackson expressed uncertainty about whether Harris identified as African-American, mentioning she had been informed otherwise and alluding to Harris’s Indian background.

Even after being corrected—Harris’s mother is Indian and her father Jamaican—Jackson maintained her stance, claiming she had received different information, including the assertion that Harris’s father was white.

Her comments have been likened to those made by former President Donald Trump, who had previously questioned Harris’s racial identity during the campaign, suggesting she “turned Black” for political advantage, despite her mixed heritage.

In the wake of a misattributed apology, Janet Jackson’s representatives have issued a statement refuting its authenticity, emphasizing that she did not approve its release.

Meanwhile, Janet and her family are mourning the passing of her elder brother, Tito Jackson.
