Deadpool & Wolverine Box Office: Following a record-breaking opening weekend, Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” directed by Shawn Levy and co-written with Ryan Reynolds, maintains its momentum with approximately $50 million in weekday earnings and a global box office total nearing $550 million.

Debuting last weekend with a staggering $444 million and earning glowing critical reviews (see mine here), “Deadpool & Wolverine,” featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, seamlessly integrates the iconic characters into the MCU through the multiverse, earning an “A” Cinemascore from audiences.

As the narrative explores various realities, it prominently features the “Sacred Timeline” from Marvel Studios, linking past Marvel movie adaptations through the Time Variance Authority, as introduced in the Disney+ series Loki.

With approximately $24 million domestically and $26 million internationally on both Monday and Tuesday, Deadpool & Wolverine is projected to reach around $635 million by next Friday.
The film is on track to surpass $800 million by its second weekend. At the very least, it is expected to end the weekend with $775 million, just $11 million short of becoming the highest-grossing film in the Deadpool franchise.

Should Deadpool & Wolverine sustain its robust weekday numbers and avoid the usual steep drop-off in its second weekend, it might exceed $900 million.

The film’s current trajectory relies on maintaining the strong sales observed on Monday and Tuesday.

Historically, big releases face a considerable decline after their initial weekend, but this year’s successful films have generally experienced weekly decreases of 30-40%.

As per the current box office estimate, the film is right on track to surpass $1 billion, potentially by the end of the third weekend.

The real question is whether it can sustain its performance to rival Inside Out 2, which has already grossed over $1.5 billion and is in contention for the top spot of 2024’s box office.

The massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine suggests that Hugh Jackman will likely reprise his role at least once more for Avengers: Secret Wars, set to release on May 7, 2027.

Whether this will be Jackman’s final appearance as Wolverine is still uncertain. Given his impact on driving films to billion-dollar grosses, there’s a strong case for him to continue in the role.

It remains uncertain whether Robert Downey Jr. will continue as Doctor Doom beyond these two films, and this could be a temporary arrangement.

Notably, Fantastic Four: First Steps is set in an alternate Marvel timeline from the 1960s, so Downey might be portraying a version of Doom from that specific alternate universe.

When the Fantastic Four transition to the 616 timeline of the MCU, a different version of Doom might emerge to face off against the team.

Marvel could use Avengers: Secret Wars to either elevate the Fantastic Four’s alternate universe as the main MCU timeline or to blend all existing timelines and characters into a unified new timeline, potentially rebooting the MCU in the process.

Lastly, Marvel has plenty of scope to innovate and evolve its storylines and characters. Even with some past missteps, the studio has shown a knack for adjusting and finding its way.

The blockbuster success of Deadpool & Wolverine underscores this ability and hints at a new, promising phase for Marvel and its global fan base.
