Veteran Bollywood actress Poonam Dhillon remembered Rishi Kapoor on the occasion of his 69th birth anniversary. She recalls of calling him that he’s a mere 10th pass and she was a graduate. During her interview, the actress also revealed that she was once intimidated by him.
The actress revealed that right after her career started, she became intimidated by Rishi Kapoor The actress said that Rishi thought that he has a better command over English language and would correct anyone who commits a mistake.
Both Rishi Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon have a great experience working together in the 1980s era. Some of the films in which they have acted include Yeh Vaada Raha (1982), Zamana (1985), Tawaif and many more.
This is what Poonam stated while giving interview to a news daily, “Chintu always thought he knew English better than anybody else. I used to make fun of him saying, ‘You are a 10th pass and I have done my graduation so don’t challenge me’. We used to have these kinds of arguments over a game of scrabble too. He is someone who would always correct you even if you made a minor faux pas in English.”
“I started acting at a very young age and seeing this actor who’s so well-versed and polished I would get intimidated sometimes. But later as when began to know each other well I started retorting back. I wouldn’t stay quiet and just give it back to him (laughs),” she added.
On the event of the birth anniversary of Rishi Kapoor, Poonam essayed a long note on Instagram and also shared some pictures with the late actor, “The last few times I met my very favorite co-star, favorite actor & friend Chintu. An actor par excellence, he was the most natural effortless actor, super dancer and a clean hearted Gentleman to the core. Feeling a huge sense of loss & my heart goes out to the grief-stricken family Neetu, Ranbir, Riddhima, Daboo, Rima & Chimpu at their tremendous loss. Truly is a huge loss also to Film Industry & all those who loved him. Really gone too soon Be with the divine in peace Chintu.”
It was on April 30, 2020 when Rishi Kapoor took his last breath. He was being treated in New York before he finally came back to India in September 2019.
The late actor was last featured in a film titled The Body in 2019 along side Shobita Sobhita Dhulipala and Emraan Hashmi. Along with that, he had signed the Hindi remake of The Intern with Deepika Padukone.
The final release of Rishi Kapoor was Sharmaji Namkeen which has now been completed by Paresh Rawal after his unfortunate demise.
