MCU: Chadwick Boseman Not to Recast in Black Panther 2

In the latest update regarding the upcoming Black Panther sequel, the Marvel Studio has confirmed that all the pioneering work of the late Chadwick Boseman will not be recast in the upcoming superhero film.

The studio further clarified that there will be only one T’Challa, Well, the above update will be crucial considering the fact that loads of new releases are going to happen in the future along with the inclusion of digital series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Boseman passed away this year in the month of August due to a serious ailment that was kept secret by his family and friends.

While giving the reason why Boseman’s work will not be recast to Black Panther 2, the Marvel Studio clarified, “His portrayal of T’Challa the Black Panther is iconic and transcends any iteration of the character in any other medium from Marvel’s past — and it’s for that reason that we will not recast the character,” Kevin Feige clarified in the statement.

But a planned sequel to the 2018 smash hit — which saw Boseman play the first black superhero to get his own standalone film in the franchise — will still go ahead using “all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film.”

“To honor the legacy that Chad helped us build through his portrayal of the king of Wakanda, we want to continue to explore the world of Wakanda,” with returning director Ryan Coogler “hard at work on the sequel now,” added Feige.

You might be aware that ‘Black Panther’ was originally made in the fictional African kingdom of Wakanda. At that time of the film’s release, all the critics and the audience adored the film to make it become the first ever MCU film nominated for Oscar in the category of best Picture. The film also managed to gross a whopping $1 billion worldwide.
