Viola Davis is an Oscar winning actress whose upcoming war epic ‘The Woman King’ is going to hit theaters in September 2022.
The above update was published in Variety that says, ‘The Woman King’ took the September 16, 2022 slot previously planned for yet-to-be-titled George Foreman biopic directed by George Tillman Jr.”
As per a major change, The George Foreman movie that was previously scheduled to be launched on another date will now hit theaters on March 24, 2023.
Please note that ‘The Woman King’ will be helmed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. While Davis will play the character of Nanisca. She will be starring as the general of the female military’s unit in Dahomey kingdom which is known as one of the most powerful states of Africa during 18th and 19th centuries.
The film is inspired by true events and the plot is quite interesting. The film’s story basically revolves around some ambitious recruits, Nawi (Thuso Mbedu) and Nanisca (Davis) who have to fight with their enemies together not only have violated their honor but also given a warning to destroy everything they have lived for now.
Both John Boyega and Lashana Lynch are going to star opposite Mbedu and Davis. The film is actually based on the original screenplay by Stevens and Dana Stevens. While Prince-Bythewood has penned the script of the film.
On the production side, Davis is known to have produced the TriStar Pictures project alongside Maria Bello, Julius Tennon and Cathy Schulman.
