A weired comedy by Andrew DeYoung stars Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson. It’s a kind of film giving a feeling like sipping a Vimto-Marmite fusion.

The film can surely gives some strange and unexpected shocks as it divides opinion.

You get a chance to have a low-key meditation regarding different challenges of adult friendship that quickly transforms into bizarre territory, shedding realism for delicious absurdity.

The film’s plot basically revolves around a beta-type guy who’s chasing friendship with his neighbour looking too cool. In spite of all this, the film manages to detour into bizarre that simply reflect a kind of male emotional avoidance.

The film basically plays like a cocktail of Hosking’s warped humor, Solondz’s discomforting wit, and the cringeworthy charm of Steve Carell and Ricky Gervais’s office rejects.

Craig is a simple guy with a good heart. He’s living in a quiet suburb and works in PR. He’s married with Tami who recently got better after fighting cancer. Tami runs a flower business from home.

The film’s plot further advances after Craig struggles to deal with her illness. In a support group, he tries to be positive but ends up saying something awkward by claiming the cancer won’t return.

Tami starts talking to an old boyfriend again, but Craig seems confused and just accepts it. It now loks like a kind of friendly dog who doesn’t understand what’s wrong.

Now, this is wghen Craig decides to meet Austin who looks quite stylish in his personality. He’s famous and works as a TV weatherman. And this is how Craig gets impressed by looking at his impressive life.

On the other hand, Austin feels sorry about Craig and one day, he invites him for a get together wqith his male friends. Craig tries hard to join them but ends up annoying Austin. Later, Craig comes to know about a secret that keeps Austin from completely cutting him off.

Friendship first looks like a supercool film with some seriousness. But it ends up after Craig messes up badly with Austin. One such incidence is when he eats soap and says “sorry” in a silly way. And this is where the film dares to take a strange turn.

Craig then gets nervous after he tries to lick a toad, but only sees boring things for a short moment. Some people may not enjoy this type of humor.

Also, the female characters don’t seem to have much sense. But the film is mainly about how men struggle to show their feelings, and over time, people start liking the odd style of characters.

The film Friendship will be released in Australia on 17 July and in the UK and Ireland on 18 July
