In the fading grandeur of Morpur, The Royals unfolds the unexpected partnership between a hesitant prince and a driven CEO. Ishaan Khatter stars as Aviraaj Singh, a polo enthusiast struggling with his royal identity.
While Bhumi Pednekar plays Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, a determined, self-made CEO with plans to convert the ancient haveli into a luxurious B&B. What starts as a calculated business move quickly turns into a whirlwind of romance, comedy, and chaos.
As the pair clash, old secrets surface, and sparks fly, they both embark on a journey to reshape the royal estate, and perhaps their own futures.
Ishaan Khatter expressed, “It’s been both inspiring and a joy to share the screen with such legendary and talented actors.
This is my second global collaboration with Netflix, and my first with Netflix India, and it has been another exciting journey. The Royals is a unique, modern rom-com, full of quirky moments, surprises, and unpredictability.”
Zeenat Aman, a celebrated veteran of Indian cinema and part of the cast of The Royals, couldn’t attend the trailer launch but shared her sentiments about the project. “My enthusiasm for exploring new characters and stories remains undiminished.
Working on The Royals has been a delightful and creatively satisfying journey. Being surrounded by such passionate and innovative young professionals made the entire experience vibrant and inspiring.
I’m truly grateful to Pritish Nandy Communications and Netflix for letting me be part of this unique romantic narrative,” she said.
Directed by Nupur Asthana and Priyanka Ghose, and penned by Neha Veena Sharma, The Royals boasts a dynamic cast that includes Luke Kenny, Lisa Mishra, Udit Arora, Sumukhi Suresh, Kavya Trehan, Vihaan Samat, Chunky Panday, Milind Soman, Dino Morea, Nora Fatehi, Sakshi Tanwar, and Zeenat Aman.
Set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on May 9, the series offers a stylish mix of humor, opulence, and emotion, as it navigates the intersection of royal legacy and modern-day aspirations, with a hint of romance along the way.
