Ismail Darbar is a renowned music composer but he found himself in a center of controversy after he commented wrongly for his daughter-in-law Gauhar Khan. When his comments started going viral on Reddit, most online users stated his comments as ‘regressive.’
It all happened when Darbar had a conversation with Vickey Lalwani where he even praised Gauhar Khan for being an ideal wife and mother. But his remarks gace birth to controversy when he stated that he doesn’t approve women who continue to work even after their marriage.
What Ismail Darbar Stated?
Take a look at what the composer has to say while giving interview, “I basically hail from a backward family and therefore have the same views. There was a time when we used to move away upon the arrival of a sensuous scene while watching a movie. This happens to our home even today.
Since Gauhar has been married in our family, she’s our responsibility. And we are equally responsible for her reputation as well. But I am unable to direct her by saying not to work. It’s because that right has been given to Zaid.
He further said, “I basically avoid anything that keep bothering me for long. And so, I don’t watch that sort of content. While making his point clear to others, he even cited his wife Ayesha who omce decided to leave her career after becoming a mother and thus making a great sacrifice for her family.”

For example, one Reddit user said, “Who is going to earn then as Gauhar happens to be the most eligible member in his family. Another Reddit user wrote, “Who gave Zaid the very right to restrict Gauhar from working? She’s not a minor girl.”
Likewise, many other users called his statements as selfish for making his son eligible for everything. Some even labled his statements with “patriarchal mindset. Zaid Darbar, who’s an influencer and choreographer by profession had to face similar sort of sharp comments from other online users.

Zaid Darbar and Gauhar Khan tied their nuptial knot in 2020 right after they met during the COVID-19 lockdown. Both of them actually met at a grocery store where Zaid contacted her via social media platform. He called Gauhar as the most beautiful woman on earth. With the passage of time, they finally tied the knot.
It was in 2023 when the couple welcomed their son Zehaan. After two years, they had another baby boy.
