Ace film director Priyadarshan looked confident to release his mega budget film titled Marakkar. But the film’s release has got delayed due to the lockdown in the country. The director was actually in talks with Mumbai Mirror recently where e disclosed about the current status of the film.
As per Priyadarshan, he is not at all worried about the release of the film even if it has been delayed for now. Marakkar is a basically a film with a budget of Rs 100 crore with the star cast he wanted to have in the film. The lead role in the film is being played by Mohanlal.
Priyadarshan surprisingly clarified that if the lockdown would have happened five days after he had released the film, he would have been on the road. He thanks God that it didn’t happen. And this is where he looks confident and says that he is not worried with the delay of he film at all.
He told the Mumbai Mirror that Marakkar has such a story and charisma that it will obviously bring the audience without a much hard work. While he said this, there are reasons to prove what he actually said.
One strong reason is that Marakkar has a strong star cast across all the industries named Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. He clarified that it was his dream project and he only faced a challenge to create the sets as per the 16th century.
He said that the film has been made with a budget of Rs 100 crore. This is what he shared with the Mumbai local news portal, “It’s my dream film and the biggest challenge was to recreate the 16th century. It’s made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, the highest in my career. Half of it is about a naval war and set in the sea. The lead character is the first Indian Naval Commander and I’m happy with the result.”
Take a look at what the director had earlier said about his upcoming film Marakkar to another news portal Kochi Times, “The overseas rights of Marakkar have been sold for a record price. We now owe it to the buyers to hold the release of the film till the theatres in the foreign countries also start functioning and people start going to theatres globally. Otherwise, we might have to pay them back with interest. So, right now we are willing to wait as the movie has been made on a big scale and an OTT release doesn’t make any sense for a movie like Marakkar.”
The film stars actors like Prabhu, Suniel Shetty and Keerthy Suresh and Manju Warrier in their pivotal roles.
