It all happened in 2024 when Bollywood star Ajay Devgn experienced two theatrical releases Shaitaan and Maidaan.
While the former received mixed reviews, the latter was praised by critics. Surprisingly, despite high anticipation and an Eid release, Maidaan, the sports drama that hit screens on April 10, 2024, didn’t meet box office expectations.
Maidaan faced off against Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which received negative reviews. Despite Maidaan’s positive reception, it struggled to draw audiences.
After over 40 days in theaters, the sports biographical drama is available for streaming on an OTT platform. But there seems a twest that you must be aware of.

What’s Maidaan Movie About?
Under the direction of Amit Sharma, this movie serves as a sports biopic, depicting the journey of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.
Set against the backdrop of the 1950s, it portrays Syed’s challenges and relentless pursuit to elevate the Indian football team to global recognition and secure victory for the nation.
Ajay Devgn portrays the character of Syed Abdul Rahim in Maidaan, alongside a cast including Gajraj Rao, Priyamani, Rudranil Ghosh, and Chaitanya Sharma.
Where to Watch Maidaan Online?
Presently, Maidaan is streaming on Amazon Prime Video, but with a catch. It’s not accessible for free to subscribers; instead, it’s available for rent at Rs 349. However, subscribers can anticipate it becoming available for free viewing approximately two weeks later.
In box office terms, Ajay Devgn’s film didn’t fare well, earning a worldwide gross of 67 crore.
In India, the sports drama’s collection stood at 48.54 crore as of May 13. Conversely, Shaitaan experienced significant success at the box office.
