In Short:
- Elden Ring Nightreign Has Unveiled Its Newest Character, Ironeye
- The character is a speedy archer capable of launching overwhelming, powerful attacks
- It offers a style of archery combat that is entirely distinct from the base game
Elden Ring Nightreign lead-up to launch hasn’t been ideal. As soon as the free network test codes were released, scalpers jumped on the opportunity.
The test itself was marred by lengthy queues and connection issues, forcing FromSoftware to issue an apology. On top of that, a DLC was unintentionally revealed through Nightreign’s Steam page.
Even with the rocky lead-up, it’s still a FromSoftware game, and fans are bound to dive in once it hits on May 30.
In the meantime, we’ve been teased with a variety of character classes, bosses, and features that have us eager for this new direction. Now, the devs have introduced a new ranged character class named Ironeye for Nightreign.
Bows At The Ready
Called the Ironeye, this new class is essentially an archer. You might assume that since archery wasn’t one of Elden Ring’s strongest features, playing as Ironeye in Nightreign wouldn’t be for you. But the reveal video suggests the character plays more like a bow-wielding hunter from Monster Hunter Wilds.
FromSoft games are typically known for their slow, calculated movement, where even a slight misstep can have dire consequences. However, the Ironeye seems to break this mold, moving quickly and smoothly while offering both ranged and close combat options.
The reveal video captures the essence with this description: ‘Swift and resolute, let your arrows bring death. May your aim be steady and cut through the darkness.
Ironeye moves with impressive speed, darting across the battlefield and using wall jumps to pull off some incredible trickshots. Along with regular arrows, players will be able to fire a barrage of arrows for groups of enemies, use heavy arrows to tackle larger foes.
They even deploy a special arrow for area damage. Ironeye seems to combine the agility of Diablo’s Rogue with the precision of a bow-wielding Hunter from Monster Hunter
