Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon has exceeded expectations with its remarkable box office run. Initially released with moderate anticipation.
The film recently gained immense support from audiences, ultimately outperforming Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. A new update from the North American box office now reinforces its worldwide triumph.
Helmed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the film garnered praise from critics and benefited from strong audience word-of-mouth.
This contributed to a successful three-week run in theaters. While it has performed exceptionally well in the domestic market, its overseas box office numbers have been equally impressive.
Dragon Dominates North American Box Office
If you look in global terms, Dragon has achieved a remarkable milestone, collecting around Rs 33 crore gross in 22 days.
A substantial share of this revenue stems from North America (Canada & USA ). According to the latest 20-day figures, the film has generated $1,258,953 in the region, amounting to ₹10.94 crore in Indian currency
Dragon Surpasses Vidaamuyarchi
As per the remarkable box office haul, Dragon has become the top-grossing Kollywood film of 2025 in North America.
Along the way, it has comfortably surpassed Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi, which collected approximately Rs 8 crore in the region.
The Pradeep Ranganathan-led film now stands 36.75% ahead in earnings, delivering another blow to Thala’s box office run.
About Dragon
The Tamil-language coming-of-age comedy-drama, starring Kayadu Lohar and Anupama Parameswaran in significant roles, premiered in theaters on February 21, 2025.
Initially, the film was decided to release in Telugu, and Tamil, the film achieved impressive box office success in both versions. The Hindi-dubbed edition has now been officially launched.
Dragon has already surpassed Rs 145 crore worldwide, and it seems to be well on track so as to reach the Rs 150 crore milestone by the end of the weekend.
