Sonu Nigam takes a dig at IIFA for not nominating his Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 song in the Best Playback Singer category

The 25th IIFA Awards were held in Jaipur on March 8–9. A few days after the event, Sonu Nigam voiced his disappointment in a post, criticizing IIFA for overlooking his Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 song in the Best Male Playback Singer category

Sonu Nigam Criticizes IIFA In A Sharp Remark

It all happened yesterday when renowned singer Sonu Nigam shared an Instagram post featuring a screenshot of IIFA 2025’s Best Male Playback Singer nominees. He added his song Mere Dholna 3.0 from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to the list.

This is what he captioned the post, “Thank you, IIFA. After all, you had to be accountable to the Rajasthan bureaucracy.” Meanwhile, Shreya Ghoshal won Best Female Playback Singer for the same song, while Jubin Nautiyal claimed the Best Male Playback Singer award for Dua from Article 370.

Amaal Malik voiced his frustration, saying, “This is the world we live in… It has turned into a joke.” Jaan Kumar Sanu, son of Kumar Sanu, also showed his support, commenting, “Dada, to be honest, you are beyond these awards. We all love you.”

Fans backed Sonu Nigam as well, with one remarking, “Autotune wins fake awards. You stand above them.” Another fan wrote, “You are the real award for us. Only a few recognize true talent, and you are one of those rare gems!”

Rajasthan CM Exits Sonu Nigam’s Concert Midway

During the Rising Rajasthan event last December, Sonu Nigam was in the middle of his performance when Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and several other political figures left the venue. The singer later addressed the incident on social media, expressing his disappointment.

This is what he remarked, “I noticed the CM and others leaving during my performance, which led to the delegates following suit.

I appeal to politicians, if you cannot honor artists, how can you expect others to? If you must leave, either don’t attend or exit before the show begins. Walking out midway is highly disrespectful and an affront to Saraswati.”

Mere Dholna 3.0 from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 became an instant favorite upon release. Kartik Aaryan lauded Sonu Nigam’s contribution, writing on X, “The much-talked-about climax was a result of several creative forces coming together… and a huge part of the credit goes to Sonu sir for his soul-stirring voice. While I performed on screen, it was his vocals that truly created the magic.”
