Legal Troubles Arise for ‘Fighter’ Due to Kissing Scene Between Hrithik Roshan & Deepika Padukone; IAF Officer Deems it ‘Highly Inappropriate’

Director Siddharth Anand’s film “Fighter” received a mixed response from the audience upon its release. The initial reaction was lukewarm, partly attributed to a weak promotional strategy leading up to its launch.

However, in an unexpected development, the movie, starring Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan, has now faced legal action over a kissing scene involving the lead actors. Read on for more details!

“Fighter” hit the screens on January 25, 2024, just ahead of Republic Day. It is a unique aerial action film in Bollywood, featuring references to the 2019 Pulwama attack, the 2019 Balakot airstrike, and the 2019 India–Pakistan border skirmishes.

Despite the legal troubles, the film has managed to surpass the 300 crore mark at the global box office.

Legal Notice Issued Regarding Hrithik Roshan & Deepika Padukone’s Film ‘Fighter

According to a report by India TV, Wing Commander Saumya Deep Das, an officer in the Indian Air Force, has issued a legal notice to the team behind the film “Fighter.” The subject line of the notice states, “Legal Notice for Defamation, Insult, and Negative Impact on the Indian Air Force and its Officers.”

In the legal document, it is asserted that the Air Force uniform holds significant symbolic value, representing unwavering dedication to duty, national security, and selfless service.

Saumya Deep Das strongly criticizes a specific scene in the film that he believes promotes personal romantic relationships. He argues that this portrayal grossly misrepresents the inherent dignity of the uniform and undermines the profound sacrifices made by numerous officers in service to the nation.

IAF Officer Criticizes ‘Fighter’ Kissing Scene as ‘Inappropriate’

Furthermore, the notice asserts that such depiction normalizes inappropriate conduct in uniform, setting a troubling precedent that undermines the moral and ethical standards expected from those tasked with protecting our borders.

The act of kissing in uniform, particularly on a runway within a technical area, while romanticized in the film, is considered highly inappropriate and unbecoming of an IAF officer. This portrayal contradicts the stringent standards of discipline and decorum expected from them.

As of now, there has been no response from Siddharth Anand, Hrithik Roshan, or any other members of the “Fighter” team regarding the legal notice.
