In his latest role in Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, Kunal Kapoor spoke about the growing need to move beyond linguistic constraints in Indian cinema.

Kunal Kapoor On Embracing Diverse Narratives: “India Is One Playground, and All Stories Belong to Us”
Discussing his experiences, Kapoor said, “As an actor, I work across Indian industries without limiting myself to geographical labels. Divisions like North and South may serve political narratives, but they hold no place in creative work. Our vision as artists should go beyond such distinctions.”
This is what he added, “The whole country is ours to tell stories to. Every powerful tale belongs to all of us, and every viewer is equally important. Shifting our perspective from being regional to national creatives can unleash a much greater artistic energy.”
Launching his film career with Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities, Kunal Kapoor rose to prominence with Rang De Basanti. His subsequent roles in titles like Dear Zindagi, Aaja Nachle, and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana showcased his versatility.
In addition to Hindi cinema, Kapoor embraced regional storytelling through his Malayalam debut Veeram (2016) and Telugu debut Devadas (2018).
In Jewel Thief, he takes the lead in a high-stakes heist thriller. He is also set to appear in Vishwambhara and plays a significant role in Nitesh Tiwari’s grand Ramayana adaptation, where he’s expected to share intense scenes with actor Yash.
As his body of work grows, Kapoor remains devoted to narratives that cross linguistic lines and resonate with a pan-Indian audience.
