For me, the punishment for street harassment should be identical for online harassment. There is no difference between the two.”
The actress further stressed that many users treat the internet like a shield for inappropriate conduct. “If you’re entering my DMs to send explicit images or write indecent comments, you deserve the same repercussions as someone behaving badly in public spaces.”
She drew attention to how online trolling is gradually being normalised, especially towards women with public visibility. Huma’s appeal to treat virtual harassment as seriously as actions in the real world highlights the need to maintain decorum and accountability online.
