Although Dimple Kapadia faced threats and stigma due to leprosy, her condition eventually became a blessing in disguise. At that time, Raj Kapoor was searching for a fresh talent for his film Bobby.

Chunnibhai Kapadia, Dimple’s father and a prominent figure in the film industry, informed Kapoor about his daughter’s unique story and attractiveness, Raj Kapoor decided to cast her.

Dimple explained, “He heard about this beautiful girl who was battling leprosy. What initially seemed like a misfortune became a significant opportunity, leading to my role in Bobby.”

Dimple Kapadia Had to Face Rejection

Dimple Kapadia recounted her first audition for Bobby after responding to a newspaper ad. Upon meeting Raj Kapoor, he commented, “You look significantly older than Chintu (Rishi Kapoor).”

Feeling disheartened, Dimple dealt with the situation by repeatedly writing “Ram Ram Ram Ram,” trying to influence a positive outcome. Luckily, Raj Kapoor called her in for a second audition, and this time, things went smoothly.
