Alia Bhatt’s Jigra Seals Rs. 90 Crore Deal for Digital & Satellite Rights

Sources reveal that Jigra was produced with an Rs. 80 crore budget, plus an additional Rs. 10 crores for promotions and marketing. Dharma Productions has already recouped the entire Rs. 90 crore investment by selling digital and satellite rights.

Any further revenue from music rights or box office collections will be profit. Karan Johar’s exceptional business sense shines through with Jigra, a film tailored for multiplex audiences, securing record-breaking deals thanks to his industry clout and reputation.

The source added that Jigra attracted premium prices due to the partnership of Vasan Bala and Alia Bhatt. “Vasan’s previous film, Monica O My Darling, performed well on Netflix, and so did Alia’s Darlings.

When Netflix proposed this collaboration, Karan Johar made it a reality, resulting in a premium payment of Rs. 70 crore for Jigra. Additionally, the team earned another Rs. 20 crore from satellite rights,” the insider noted

Jigra is scheduled to hit theaters on October 11, 2024
