Hailey Bieber is a model in the US who recently got involved in a controversy. As per reports, the model has been sued for her Rhode skincare line launched earlier this month. The reason why she was sued is because of her trademark infringement.
The reports confirm on Tuesday that it’s a 9 year old fashion company that sued Hailey sharing the name of her skincare line.
The actual reason that came out making co-founders Phoebe Vickers and Purna Khatau filing the lawsuit is that Hailey Bieber was creating a sort of confusion as she’s involved marketing a skincare line under the Rhode’s name.
Due to this, they filed a lawsuit against the model in the US district court to challenge the matter legally.

In the original filing report, one of the co-founding members stated that she and Vickers launched the brand in the year 2013 and they had to work hard to growing and nurturing it at every level.
Since then the RHODE brand has become a luxury brand which is sold in city’s luxury stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The brand has become so popular that it’s worn by some top Hollywood celebrities like Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, and Beyonce.
As per the lawsuit filed, RHODE is looking forward to make around USD 14.5 million this year.
In another perspective, Hailey is married to singer Justin Bieber. Now, as per the lawsuit, Bieber has promoted her business at such a level that her Instagram account has got as many as 243 million followers. The single Instagram account is now able to generate 1.5 million likes with a single posting.
The co-founders argue that Hailey also tried to buy the rights of the name of their brand 4 years ago, but they refused it already.
They further stated that although, Hailey is currently focusing on skincare and they focus on fashion. But it’s not preventing brand confusion even though they are experimenting different line of brands.
They said, “We’re both part of a larger beauty market in which fashion and cosmetics closely overlap and often collaborate.”
“Hailey has stated that she wants to pursue a clothing line, and she even applied for ‘Rhode’ as a trademark for clothing,” they added. “We welcome competition – we just don’t want competitors using our name.” the cofounders said.
On the above controversy, there has been no reaction came out from Hailey’s side.
