In the latest twist to the course of events taking place, there is yet news coming up in the Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR) case.

As per the latest Bollywood news, CBI had told the Bombay High Court that it didn’t leak any information regarding the ongoing probe of Sushant Singh Rajput.

You might be aware that as many as 3 investigating agencies are currently investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR) case. The Bombay HC on Friday was hearing a PIL regarding the ‘media trial’.

In its response, CBI stated in the court that the investigating agency never leaked any information related to the SSR death probe.

In the statement released by the court on Friday, it said that media has become quite polarized. And so, it’s not the question of media regularization but checks and balances.

Anil Singh, who is the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) representing CBI stated in the court that not only CBI but neither of the agencies including ED and NCB had shared any probe related information right from they day when they had initiated the investigation.

In order to confirm what they acknowledged, all three agencies including ED, NCB and CBI had filed affidavits in the court accepting the fact that they had not leaked any kind of probe related information.

“We know our responsibilities and there is no question of leaking information by any of the agencies,” the ASG added. The hearing of the case was done by a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G S Kulkarni.

They were hearing a case filed on public interest litigations where it was demanded that the media needs to be restricted in its coverage regarding the probe of the actor’s death.

The High Court (HC) is currently hearing the arguments stating whether the country requires a statutory mechanism to control the content of TV news channels.

The petitioners included a group of retired police officers demanding that news channels should not be allowed to broadcast sensitive information at any time that may hamper the investigation.

The petitioners raised the question how these news channels get an access to the probe related information.

They further alleged that they must be having their sources in these agencies that are leaking the information to the news channels.

The National Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) and the Union government along with the news channels happen to the party to the state.

They told the High Court that electronic media in the country has a self regulatory mechanism and the state must not have any control over their content.

While hearing the PIL, the lawyers of news channels cited old judgments and argued against a statutory regulatory mechanism.

This is what HC remarked, “The media was neutral then (in the past). It is now highly polarized….This is not a question of regulation, this is a question of checks and balances. People forget where to draw lines. Do it within lines,” the judges said.

“You want to criticize the government, do it. The issue is someone has died and the allegation is you are interfering,” the HC said. The hearing will continue next week as well.
