Riley Keough has shared insights about her journey in finishing her mother Lisa Marie Presley’s memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown. Lisa Marie, the only daughter of rock legend Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, died on January 12, 2023, at 54.
While Lisa initiated the memoir a few years before her passing, Riley took on the responsibility of completing it following her mother’s unexpected death.
In a recent chat with People, Riley Keough shared the emotional toll of listening to her mother’s recorded interviews for the memoir.
She highlighted Lisa Marie was frequently discussed, analyzed, and critiqued. Riley noted that their goal with the memoir was to go beyond the superficial headlines and uncover her mother’s true identity.
She later stated that the memoir aims to depict Lisa Marie Presley as a complex individual: a devoted mother, a spirited free spirit, a steadfast friend, and a talented artist who experienced a wide array of feelings—humor, trauma, joy, and grief—throughout her remarkable journey.
With this project, Riley sought to provide her mother with the voice that had been lacking during her lifetime.
