MAMI, one of the premier South Asian Film Festivals worldwide, is committed to nurturing a platform for emerging cinematic voices, showcasing the exchange of ideas, collaboration, and business prospects, and upbringing the best of global cinema in Mumbai.
The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival is all set to happen between October 19th to 24th, 2024, filmmakers are looking forward to submit their films via MAMI’s official website. The early bird deadline for submissions is May 31, 2024.

While having a word regarding the festival’s commitment to South Asian cinema, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Chairperson of MAMI, stated, “With our new vision at MAMI, launched in 2023, we have successfully created an ecosystem that showcases films and filmmakers from South Asia and the South Asian diaspora. As the cinematic and storytelling landscape continues to evolve, we firmly believe that our festival plays a vital role in promoting diverse narratives and fostering connections between filmmakers and their audiences. The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival assures filmmakers an exceptional chance not only to showcase their talent but also connect with peers, and expand their global network.
The festival will actively engage diverse stakeholders through a wide range of masterclasses, discussions, workshops, and expert panels. Take a look at the following categories against which the submissions are being invited:
- South Asia Competition: It’s the first category which is dedicated to presenting innovative contemporary South Asian films from the current year. It’s mainly reserved for feature-length films, meaning those with a duration of 60 minutes or longer.
- South Asia Non-Competition: The present category at MAMI is basically non-competitive and dedicated to featuring both short and full length films by filmmakers from South Asia and the South Asian Diaspora. This category is designed to showcase the rich variety of narratives and styles that reflect our shared experiences.
- World Cinema: Since inception in 1997, the World Cinema section has been a vital component of the festival. The present category offers a broad perspective on the most ambitious and successful new films from across the globe.
Submissions are required to be made by May 31, 2024, to qualify for the early bird deadline.
