Nehemiah Persoff Passes Away At the Age of 102

Nehemiah Persoff, who’s counted among the most renowned actors of film and television took his last breath today at the age of 102.

As per the latest Hollywood news, Persoff expired on Tuesday night in San Luis Obispo, California at an acute care facility.

Nehemiah Persoff was suffering from some health issues like stroke and due to this took a decision to retire from acting several decades ago.

Persoff was a renowned Hollywood actor who received so many awards for his work in the world of entertainment. Some of his best performing roles include The Untouchables (1987), Jake “Greasy Thumb” Guzik, Capone (2020) and Johnny Torrio on the 1959-63 ABC drama The Untouchables.

In addition to the above films and shows, he also got a chance to voice Papa Mousekewitz in 1986’s An American Tail. He played an incredible role Reb Mendel.

Later, he also played the Barbra Streisand’s title character of Yentl (and the subject of the film’s best-known song ‘Papa, Can You Hear Me’).

Nehemiah Persoff also served to the US Army before moving to New York and establishing his career in acting. In the US Army, Persoff served as an electrician for the New York subway system.
