Kangana Ranaut is shortly going to feature in her upcoming film titled ‘Emergency’ where the actress will play the role of former late Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi.

For a very long time, Kangana has been doing women centric films and this time too, she will be seen in yet another such film Emergency, written and directed by her. Her last film ‘Dhaakad’ couldn’t perform well on the silver screen.

‘Emergency’ is all about the state of internal emergency imposed by the late former prime minister of India Indira Gandhi on June 25, 1975.

It resulted in mass movement of people from here and there. The phase of emergency lasted till March 21, 1977 when Janata Party was finally voted to power in a history election by the people of India.

Although, the demeanor, wardrobe and the prosthetics are all reminiscent of the late PM. But according to critics, Kangana still has to work on the pronunciation of the word ‘Sir’.

This is what Kangana said while talking about her film, “It primarily reflects one of the most important periods in Indian political history which changed the way we view power and that’s why I decided to tell this story”. she said.

She further added, “Moreover, playing a public figure on screen is always a challenge because one has to get the look, the characteristics and the persona right. I spent a significant amount of time researching the subject and once I felt I had enough ammunition, I commenced on the film’s shoot.” the actress added.

Well, this is not the first time she has chosen such a character to perform on the silver screen. In fact, Kangana has done such roles previously in films like ‘Thalaivi’ where she had played the role of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalitha and Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi in ‘Manikarnika’.

The dialogues of the film have been written by Ritesh Shah, who’s the same associated with several well known films like ‘Airlift’, ‘Raid’, ‘Pink’, and ‘Kahaani’.
