As per the studio estimates, “Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire” clearly maintained its position as the top-grossing film at the box office for the second consecutive week, despite facing competition from two new releases. The film managed to get up to $80 million opening weekend. The MonsterVerse crossover film secured an additional $31.7 million in its 2nd weekend, marking a 60% decline from its debut.

The collaboration between Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, helmed by director Adam Wingard, has surpassed the performance of recent monster films from the studio, with the exception of 2014’s “Godzilla.”

But with a global earning of $361.1 million within 2 weeks, “Godzilla vs. Kong” looks forward to surpass the $529 million worldwide box office of 2014’s “Godzilla.” And so, the latest installment, featuring a team-up between Godzilla and Kong, was produced at $135 million.

“Godzilla vs. Kong” maintained its dominance at the box office after a new film hit theaters. Dev Patel’s “Monkey Man,” a revenge thriller set in India and distributed by Universal Pictures, made its debut in 3,029 theaters across North America, earning an estimated $10.1 million in its opening weekend.

This marked a notable start for Patel’s directorial debut, featuring him in a gritty, politically charged action film.

On the other hand “Monkey Man,” with a production budget of around $10 million, faced initial rejection from Netflix before being picked up by Jordan Peele and his production company, Monkeypaw Productions.

The latest release of the weekend, “The First Omen,” from Disney’s 20th Century Studios, faced challenges in resonating with audiences. Despite the film’s show across 3,375 theaters, it landed in 4th place with an estimated $8.4 million in domestic ticket sales

This R-rated horror film, serving as a prequel to the 1976 original directed by Richard Donner and starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, was made with a budget of around $30 million.

The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson and stars Nell Tiger Free, Tawfeek Barhom, and Bill Nighy. The above adaptation follows the footsteps of 2006’s “The Omen,” which debuted with $16 million grossing $119 million.

The ordinary opening of “The First Omen” allowed Sony’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” to claim the 3rd position with an earning of $9 million in its third weekend of release.

The sequel to the sci-fi comedy has accrued $88.8 million domestically and $138 million worldwide. Meanwhile, Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part Two” continues to show resilience, adding $7.2 million in its 6th week, experiencing 37% drop and with a domestic total up to $264 million.

The latest update of Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning film “The Boy and the Heron” premiered in cinemas.

This highly acclaimed Japanese anime is breaking records as a non-Chinese animated film. Within its initial 5 days since its debut on Wednesday, the movie exceeded $70 million in total earnings, marking a new milestone for Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.
