George R.R. Martin, renowned for his A Song of Ice and Fire series, has shown considerable enthusiasm for HBO’s upcoming spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set to premiere in 2025.

George R.R. Martin Commends A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Spinoff After Voicing Critiques of House of the Dragon
Pinkvilla reveals that George R.R. Martin has spoken positively about the upcoming spinoff series based on his Dunk and Egg novellas. “After visiting the set in Northern Ireland in July, I was truly impressed,”
This is what Martin stated, “The cast is outstanding, and Dunk and Egg look as though they’ve come straight from my books. I’m confident that my readers will be thrilled, and I am as well. Ira Parker is doing a fantastic job as the showrunner,” he added.
This marks a significant shift from George R.R. Martin’s earlier critique of House of the Dragon. In a now-deleted blog post, Martin took issue with several creative decisions, especially the removal of Prince Maelor Targaryen.
Although there were initial plans to feature Maelor in the prequel, his role was eventually cut. Martin feared that this choice could greatly impact the direction of the show’s final two seasons and its overall storyline.
