It looks like as if a wave of cinematic energy swept through Goa as Suparn S Varma’s Haq premiered to a full house at IFFI.
The audience response, marked by extended emotional applause has propelled the film into the festival circuit with remarkable momentum.

Director Suparn S Varma Says Haq’s IFFI Goa 2025 Screening Evoked “Deep Emotions”
Haq mainly stars Emraan Hashmi, and Yami Gautam in their respective pivotal roles. And so, the film takes you through the Shah Bano case, the landmark judgment that ignited national debate on justice, identity, personal laws, along with overcoming the conflicts of marriages.
The storyline presented by Varma manages to take the emotional quotient which is generally shared between a married couple. It happens through a kind of narrative that is sharp, sincere, and free of bias. This refusal to vilify either side lends the film a rare honesty that continues.
The film has already showcased its presence on the upcoming festival which is now going to stream its lauch date. As per reports, it will be in the month of January.
This is what Varma said, “At IFFI, the audience’s heartfelt engagement and much more left me genuinely moved. That level of connection is the greatest reward.”
The industry sources however, say that the man behind Haq is currently working on a meaningful story rooted in an IPL scandal, with heavyweight studios and producers already keen to board the project.
