Ever since the first look of Vijay Sethupathi in the  800 teaser was launched, the entire project gripped into in the midst of controversies.

The reason why everybody is having an issue with this film is that it is full of politics.

Although, many people have liked and appreciated Vijay Sethupathi’s resemblance to the ace cricketer, most well known Kollywood celebrities including Bharathirajaa, Seenu Ramasamy and Cheran have urged him to opt out of this project.

The film is titled 800 and happens to the biopic of Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan who is known to be the legend of Sri Lankan cricket.

The film stars none other than Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role and is directed by MS Sripathy.

Most Kollywood actors and directors simply want Sethupathi to leave the project as the film is increasingly becoming the problematic political stance of its subject, Muralitharan.

They mainly argue that Muralitharan happened to be the supporter of Sri Lankan government which is accused of genocide of Tamils.

At this time, there is another revelation coming up from Asuran fame Teejay Arunasalam.

As per Teejay, he was approached by the makers of 800 to simply play the younger version of the cricketer in question.

But he didn’t accept their offer as he already has issues with the film’s politics. In an interview given to the Times of India, Teejay stated, “When I was in India, the makers of 800 had approached me. I met the filmmaker in his office, and he told me the bits and bobs of the script.

I was approached to play the younger version of Muralidaran, with the elder version to be played by Vijay Sethupathi sir. The war between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamils is depicted in the biopic and it did not sound right to me.

My mother is an Eelam Tamil. There was a lot of cruelty involved in the war and I did not want to get involved in the politics of the film’s narrative. So, I eventually told them no.”
