Anime Box Office: Haikyu Movie Gains Additional Boost with Exclusive Gifts for Audiences

Anime Box Office

The first two concluding Haikyu films, Battle at the Garbage Dump, regained its No. 2 spot at the Japan box office ahead of its global debut.

Anime Box Office: Detective Conan has managed to maintain its remarkable six-week streak at the top of the Japanese box office. The film surpassed some other new releases at the box office.

Even with three new films entering the charts the last weekend (May 17-19, 2024), the 27th anime film in the Case Closed series remains unbeaten.

There are some other anime titles making their mark on the Top 10 Weekend Audience rankings. As it seems, the initial of the two concluding Haikyuu films prolonged its presence for a 14th week.

On the other hand, the Blue Lock movie experienced a decline in rankings during its 5th week on the chart of top-scoring weekend films.

As both the films premiere from Toho Animation, Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram and Haikyu The Movie: Battle at the Garbage Dump, attracted sizable audiences.

While the former drew in 278,000 viewers from Friday to Sunday, amassing 408 million yen, the Haikyu movie brought in 141,000 moviegoers, earning a revenue of 213 million yen.

Haikyu’s Success In Japan Ahead of Its international Premiere

Bouncing back from a lower position, the Haikyu final movie surged from No. 9 to No. 2 this weekend. Its total earnings now reach an impressive 10.6 billion yen, with 7.46 million viewers attending the theatrical screenings since February.

The notable increase in numbers this particular weekend can be attributed to the exclusive distribution of the limited edition manga copy, Haikyu Volume 33.5 One More Time!, as the final admission gift to moviegoers. Starting from Saturday, May 18, Volume 33.5 was also given out as a bonus for admission during the movie’s opening week earlier this year.

The second-to-last movie release of the anime series is set to premiere in theaters globally next week, paving the way for greater numbers from the audience around the world.
