Kanguva, Suriya’s previous release, opened to a blockbuster ₹22 crore haul, setting a new personal record. With his next film clashing with Raid 2 and HIT 3, reaching the same benchmark appears out of reach.

Suriya may miss not only his own record but also fall behind the top Tamil openings of 2025, led by Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly. Even Vidaamuyarchi, also starring Ajith and holding the second spot, might stay out of reach for Retro.

Just ₹3 crore more, and Suriya’s film will surpass Madha Gaja Raja, securing its place among 2025’s top 5 Tamil openers. That achievement would also mean the year’s most profitable Tamil movie will no longer be in the top opening ranks.
