You might have heard the government started taking some bold steps to revive the economy amid Covid-19 crisis.

One such step that the government has taken is towards the entertainment sector.

With the inputs of many producers and directors, it has been taken a unanimous decision to release movies directly on the OTT platforms.

This is what Baahubali fame Rana Daggubati has welcomed the decision.

He has not only welcomed the decision but also expressed his satisfaction that Malayalam film industry can bounce back to work at a much faster rate as compared to any other industry.

When Daggubati was asked to comment on the above decision, this is what he had to say,  “In all of the industries that will get back, probably the Malayalam industry can get back much faster than all of us because they use the smallest units and so they can get cinema done very quickly!” the actor observed.

A few days back, as many as seven movies were declared to have their direct-to-digital release. The above step was taken primarily in response to the ongoing lockdown in the country.

One of the Malayalam films that was decided to be released on the OTT platform includes Sufiyum Sujatham produced by Vijay Babu. However, the producer didn’t get the welcome of the decision he had taken at that time.

Instead, the film association had criticised his move to release his film directly on the digital platform.

On the other hand, there were many producers and film makers who supported this move, especially by looking at the current uncertainty of events.

Rana Daggubati is among those who support the movie of releasing films directly on the digital platforms.

The reason why he thinks that Malayalam film industry will be quicker to bounce back is just because of the fact that it works in smaller units as compared to other film industries.

This is bound to make comeback at a much faster pace. Daggubati also feels that it is not going to be that difficult to release films digitally with minimum resources.

It will also help other film industries to adapt the same process over time as well.
