Moana 2 Box Office: Achieves 10th Rank In North America’s Top Animated Films, Outpacing Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse!
The movie has The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Jurassic World: Dominion positioning itself as one of the top-grossing films in US history.
According to trade analyst Luiz Fernando, Moana 2 raked in $6.3 million in the US on its fifth Friday, marking a substantial 85.3% increase from the previous week despite facing fierce competition. The Disney sequel also outpaced its predecessor, which had earned $2.9 million at the same stage.
Moana 2 has crossed $382.7 million at the US box office, surpassing Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s $381.6 million to become the 10th highest-grossing animated film in US history.
The sequel has also outperformed Jurassic World: Dominion’s $376.9 million, Finding Nemo’s $380.8 million, and The Lord of the Rings’ earnings.
Moana 2 has exceeded The Return of the King’s $381.9 million, ranking as the 52nd highest-grossing film of all time, and has also earned the title of the 10th highest-grossing animated film in US box office history.
The sequel is estimated to earn between $16 million and $19 million in its fifth weekend. Internationally, the animated film has surpassed $450 million, now totaling $450.4 million. With its domestic revenue added, the global total stands at $833.10 million.
