“Deadpool & Wolverine” is anticipated to be rich with cameo appearances, bringing back a number of mutants and beloved figures from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Although most of these cameo appearances have been kept under wraps, Marvel has disclosed one surprise in the final trailer for the superhero sequel: Dafne Keen’s X-23 from the 2017 film “Logan” will make a return.
Kevin Feige of Marvel outlined several factors that led to the MCU’s final decision to disclose the X-23 reveal a week prior to the release of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
“Since Dafne was eager to be at the premiere, we had to inform her that she couldn’t attend as it would spoil the entire surprise. We hadn’t revealed it yet,” This is what Feige told Variety during the “Deadpool & Wolverine” premiere in New York City on Monday night.
Fortunately for Keen, Disney chose to showcase the character in the trailer as X-23’s appearance hints at “the emotional heart of the film,” Feige explained. He noted that Disney’s marketing team has a knack for knowing “when to reveal a bit more and when to hold back.”
Marvel agreed to feature X-23 in the trailer because, Feige said, “it added significant impact to the final trailer,” enabling Dafne to attend the premiere.

In “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Hugh Jackman returns in the form of animalistic mutant after his exit in “Logan.” Ryan Reynolds, stepping into the Merc with a Mouth’s suit for the third time, shared that their goal was for the film to offer both joy and a thorough experience.
“What I take the most pride in is how every single frame of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has been carefully considered. We dedicated extensive time and attention to detail in each moment, and it truly pays off,” This is what Reynolds told reporters.
Jackman expressed, “We set very high standards for the film, so there was always a risk because we wanted to go beyond those expectations. Both characters are deeply important to us, and our friendship is one of the most valued aspects of my life. We aimed to deliver our best, and fortunately, it has surpassed every expectation.”
“Deadpool & Wolverine” hits the big screen on Friday, July 26, 2024.
