The Delhi High Court expressed shock on the 5G wireless case filed by the Bollywood actress turned environmentalist Juhi Chawla and others on Wednesday.

The court simply questioned the conduct of Chawla and others for not complying and depositing Rs 20 lakh fine imposed to them. As per the recent update, she is yet to deposit the fine.

This is what Justice J.R. Midha observed, “The court is shocked at the conduct of the plaintiffs.. not willing to gracefully deposit the cost.”

It all happened when the actress filed three petitions before the court seeking replacing the word “dismissed” in the original order (judgement) with the term “rejected”, waiver of costs imposed and court fee refund.

Even after trying hard to get some waiver, court observed that the complainant is not willingly depositing the fee imposed. Meet Malhotra, who’s currently the advocate of Chawla later stated that they will deposit the actual cost imposed within a week or in a span of ten days.

In case, they are not able to pay the fee imposed, this will most likely attract the legal remedies’ against the actor.

The court in its verdict made it clear that it took a lenient view of not imposing the contempt of court proceedings on the actor and only asked to deposit the imposed amount of Rs 20 Lakh.

Justice Midha who reviewed the petition stated, “I was shocked… This court took a lenient view and did not issue contempt when case was made out… I was totally inclined,” he stated.

Justice Midha also stated that he could have imposed a severe fine in the form of initiating the contempt of court proceedings on this matter.

On the other hand, Juhi Chawla’s council maintained that they have never stated that they won’t pay the imposed fine. This is what he said, “This is my instruction that nobody said that they wouldn’t. I saw what happened (in the judgment). I fully understand,” he said.

At the moment, Chawla’s councilor has already withdrew the application where they were demanding the return of court fee.

Now, the current status of this case is that court has already granted a week’s time to the actor and her associates to go ahead and deposit the Rs 20 lakh fine imposed to them.

As per the fresh order released by the court, it ordered that the 3rd application moved by the actor would now be placed before Justice Sanjeev Narula.

Now, this will happen only after the actor deposit the court fee imposed to them. The next hearing date will fall on July 12.

It all happened in the month of June when the court had simply rejected the lawsuit filed by the actor and her associates in the court. She had raised the concern of imposing the 5G wireless networks in the country and had counted a number of health hazards due to this.

After hearing the case, the court had imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on the petitioners. While hearing the case, Justice Midha had observed that it was filed merely to gain publicity.
