Box Office: Deadliest Friday ahead, average occupancy is just 2.5%

Box Office Update: Friday Brings Lowest Attendance Yet with Average Occupancy at Just 2.5% in Bollywood Box Office

It’s now going to happen for the first time that despite facing competition from IPL, cinema halls are going to be deserted tomorrow.

Since the Eid releases, the industry’s momentum has hit a standstill. While there were occasional releases post-Eid, currently, there are no movies planned for theater premieres.

At the same time, movie makers attribute this to the ongoing elections. After casting their votes, audiences could have easily flocked to theaters, which typically experience higher attendance rates in the afternoon.

The recent releases continue to make an impact, as none of them are able to surpass the Rs. 1 crore mark at the box office daily. Now, the daily collections are only in lakhs, while the total earnings of Bollywood movies combined are falling short of Rs 2 crores daily, despite a potential capacity of Rs. 70-80 crores.

It may result in an average occupancy of only 2.5% per screen, per show. Unfortunately, the situation is poised to deteriorate further starting tomorrow.
